Activity Updates 2018 - 2020
2020 Year in Review: Despite living through a pandemic in 2020, our supporters still came through with their generosity. Your donations continued to provide much needed relief as follows:
UNICEF Syrian Relief Efforts: We supported the Syrian Relief efforts through UNICEF, who with their partners, are still able to provide direct support to children in Syria affected by the conflict. You can visit the UNICEF Partners page to see SAWA listed. You can watch this 'Virtual Tour to Syria" to learn more about their efforts on the ground.
Local Syrian Refugees: Your donations supported Syrian refugees in the Greater Washington, D.C. area by providing them with Giant Gift Cards.
Local COVID-19 Support: Thanks to the generosity and support of one of our major donors, we secured 15,000 masks and donated them to the Adventist Healthcare which operates several hospitals and clinics in the area in support of COVID-19 efforts (10K masks), and the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board for Fairfax County (5K masks).
SAWA 26th Annual Iftar (May 2019)
Thank you to everyone who joined, supported and contributed to the 26th Annual Iftar. We are grateful for the wonderful feedback and show of support. We're so thankful that our attendees enjoyed the delicious Syrian food, the nostalgic music, and most importantly, hearing about the impact of your donations. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $23,600. We are continuing to support the education of Syrian Youth and investing in their futures. Thank YOU!
Holiday Brunch (December 2018)
Thank you to all those who joined us and donated to the SAWA Holiday Brunch in December 2018. It was a great event for all ages! Thanks to your generosity, many displaced families returning to their homes in Syria are now able to have access to clean water.
